Los Angeles Chargers fullback, Derek Watt, found his happily ever after with Gabriella Justin on February 17, 2018 in Miami, Florida. Before jumping into all the details from their big day, we’re taking it back to when Derek got down on one knee and how Gabrielle prepared for their elegant, outdoor nuptials!
THE PROPOSAL Derek proposed to me while we were visiting my parents in Florida. He knows how tight-knit my family is, so Derek felt that popping the question surrounded by family would be the best way to ask me to be his wife. He was right! Unbeknownst to me, Derek asked for my father’s blessing, and together, they planned for the proposal to take place at a family gathering the next day. Derek made sure a camera was rolling while taking a group photo, and that’s when he got down on one knee and asked me to “offically be his forever.”
THE PREPARATION I planned everything myself! I love art and design, so having the opportunity to create our fairytale wedding on my own was a dream come true. Of course, it helps that Derek and I had the same vision for our special day. Each vendor was extremely easy to communicate with, and they made us feel like they were just as excited for our wedding as we were. They were all true professionals who knew exactly what they were doing, not to mention they offer high-quality work for fair prices. We were inspired to have a fairytale-themed wedding because that has been the theme of our relationship since the first weekend we spent together three years ago. Before I dropped Derek off at the airport after our first weekend together, I put a note in his backpack that read “thanks for being my real life Prince Charming. He still has the note today!
